Default I want a drone

So, like the rest of the world, I want a drone. ?But I don't know much about them, other than spending (too much) time on YouTube watching the cool videos people put together.

The main thing I would like to do is the typical scenery shots, boating stuff (surfing and foiling). ?And maybe to get some videos of my dog while he is pheasant hunting (need to check into the legalities of that).

It seems like most recommend the DJI Mavic Pro. ?I have a ton of United miles, and thought this one here might be a good way to burn some of them. ?https://www.mileageplusawards.com/ua...D#.WmtlqSOZPR0

Thoughts on it? ?It looks like it has most of the additional accessories that people say you need. ?If I went this way, what else would I really need?

What else do I need to know?

DJI just released the SKY, looks pretty nice. I have been eyeballing the DJI Spark. The Mavic Pro is a good choice also.

They are a lot of fun. I have the DJI Phantom 4 Pro and it's a blast. Very easy to fly and a lot of features. The video quality is amazing even in fairly heavy winds thanks to a great camera gimbal. It's fairly loud and will spook deer at a couple hundred feet. It's pretty fun watching them from above during the summer months. I'm not sure what the legalities of using them while hunting is but because the deer tend to spook I've never looked into it. It would be really cool to watch a dog work a field. A cool feature of the Phantom is that you can lock it onto an object that's moving and the drone will automatically follow it....ie the dog.

One important note while using them boating. Some have an automatic return to "home" feature which will automatically bring them back to the spot where they took off. Cool feature as long as your boat never moves. There are a few drones that can be found at the bottom of a lot of lakes and ocean.

I vote Phantom 4.

I’m also one of the advisors for my company’s new drone program. It’s in it’s infancy, but is fascinating. So much to learn Fed and State wise.

talked to a guy recently that has his own "drone company" and got a contract with a power company to use his drone to fly lines and do other inspections for a very interesting price if he's telling the truth...let's just say he quoted it as over $1k/hr

Q: Why does it take SOOO long to put pills in a bottle?!?!

A: Pills in a bottle is the easy part! The making sure it doesn't KILL you is the part that takes an extra second or two!

I used my united miles to buy the Mavic Pro. Comes with a bunch of normal accessories. Should be here in 10 days, which will give me time to get some practice in before I take it on the boat.
