I would agree with codgaard. nothing better than hearing about situations back in the day. the good times to help others reflect on the positive side of his life, not the current situation. Everyone needs a good laugh at times like this. helps folks heal knowing the person had a fun and good life, and any positive imapcts he made on those he knew.
you could always end it with 'fair winds and following seas'

again, sorry for your loss and prayers and thoughts for your family's loss.

Being an old Navy guy, "Fair winds and following seas" is a common send off.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the support and the suggestions. I wrote some stuff down that I thought might be funny but I'm just not sure it will go over well. Things that are funny to some, are inappropriate to others. Maybe I'll just stick with some memories and not get funny or schmoopy.
Like the time I backed him into the water.. driving his stick shift camaro.. at 16 yr old.. and while I was just pulling out.. he launched the boat back onto the trailer because he forgot to put the plug in. Ya, didn't do my heart any good either. That will make a good story.
