You able to use all of the space in the deck's roof? sneak in from the second floor for a loft or something?

Yep. Siding, gutters and insulation are done. Drywall is going up now.

No loft, we have a cathedral ceiling in the great room, kitchen/dining areas. Old place had potential for a loft, but we'd never finish it. Opted for higher ceilings in this one.

some exterior pics. going to do something with the front gable...maybe a horizontal white strip @ the base, maybe a white cable vent, maybe another type of decoration. hard to believe how much the weather impacts the color appearance of of the roof and siding.

Greg, what about removing the siding on the front Gable and replacing it with a rustic hewn truss. This will open up the living room for more light, add texture and color to the front of the house. To finish it off consider local stone columns to support the truss on both sides of the entry. Just my 2.

thanks guys. that's a great idea, but don't forget this is a weekend house on a quiet gravel road surrounded by woods. open trusses would attract critters and birds galore. we'll just add something to the gable we have.

Open truss with a bb gun kicker....

Gotcha Greg. Yeah, maybe just something decorative on the surface to break it up.
