Randy....what temp do you normally set your Traeger at when searing good steaks? Seems I get the best cook on my Green Mountain around 450 degrees. We are normally grilling thicker cut 12 oz ribeyes or NY strips and have thought about trying it at 500 degrees and decreasing the grill time but I hate to screw up good steaks.
