Default Bad day today

Well, the POS Michigan Vortex hub blew out 2 miles from the ramp. It is going to be a long idle back to the trailer. UUGGHH

Sorry to hear about your bad day... Always sucks when something like that ruins your day on the water. It just gets under my skin when things aren't right with the boat. Sounds like a pretty easy and inexpensive fix though. Should be back on the water soon!

Well that sucks! Easy fix though. That won't keep you off the water long.

The super slow 2 mile idle turned into the flight of the bumblebee once I got on the trailer. I called around to Cabelas and Bass Pro and both of their boat parts department were closed and would not be back until Monday. I was despairing until my wife took a chance and called Midwest Prop in Olathe KS which is about 20 min from my house. The owner answered his cell and offered to come open his shop and meet me there. COMPLETLY AWESOME!!! The burnt hub was jammed in there and he pressed it out for me and sandblasted the inside of the prop to clean it up. So.......while I was there, why not a new prop since I was going to later anyway. I ended up buying a 15" 17p 4-blade Powertech Stainless prop. He says that I can try it out and bring it back if I don't like it. I got the prop, a new hub, and my aluminum one straightened out for $340 with tax.

I can't say enough about Midwest Prop Service. If you are the KC area, go see them.

Chris

That awesome! I had a 17P 15 1/8 Mirage on my 210 ccr last year. Did really well. I'm sure you will like what you bought.

Back to the lake today. We will see if the new prop performs as well as I hope. Got to be better than the 43 MPH and 4400 RPM max I was pulling before the other prop hub blew out.

Some times things happen for a reason. May have never called him if you weren't in a pinch. Good for you!

I've been running a Powertech prop for the past 2 years. I'm extremely happy with it. My speed is linear with the rpm's...3,000 rpm's=30 mph. 4,000 rpm's=40 mph. 5,000 rpm's=50 mph.
