Default Debating my NRA renewal.

I'm an avid gun owner and have been an NRA member for many years. I really don't care for my mailbox being crammed with mail asking for more money. It seems that they spend all of the money I give them lobbying me for more. Of course I will renew my membership, I believe in the mission. Just wish they would ease up on the mail.

I completely agree and I also have been a member for years. I did write a letter to them about 2 years ago telling them to take me off their mailing list and save the money and to use it for something better since I'm planning on staying a member for years.

Lifetime Member here that agrees. Too much marketing asking for more $$$.

I was a member for years and quit for that exact reason. I tried calling them and explaining how irritating it was to get bi-weekly junk mail. Alot of it was "The sky is falling" type stuff to be solved only by my prompt donation. Kinda like shopping at Jewel here - eg you buy 2 Yoplait yogurts and the clerk hands you a coupon for $1 off any 4 yoplait yogurts on your next visit. Dare to buy the 4 and you get a coupon for 6!!!

everything is irritating, but their cause is worthwhile. Those mailers are the cheapest way to raise $$$, and many offer some kind of "trinket" for the donation. Stay a member and ignore the crap. A side benefit, it helps keep the postal service afloat.

Completely agree. However, the NRA is the 800 lb gorilla in the room. If you are a gun owner, you HAVE to be a member.

Additionally, the Second Amendment Foundation is only a $150 lifetime membership.

And, please join your state association. They are much closer to the battles that are fought at the state level.

I agree with all that had been said as well, except the statement about the postal service...If they can't be profitable, they should be allowed to fail (so should GM and Chrysler, but that's another issue).

Anyway, I will continue to be a member of the NRA, and I just file their junk mail with the rest of the junk mail I get.

I agree with everything said, although I did drop my membership after watching a TV hunt with the NRA bigwigs on some kind of exotic hunt in some other country. I felt that they were living a little too well off donated money if they could afford that. I know I can't afford that kind of hunt. I probably should reconsider, but it just didn't set well
I believe in most of what their mission statement says, I just don't want them getting rich doing the job.

Not a member, but an avid gun owner.

What are the benefits of being a member? (besides knowledge of key 2nd A issues, one group/one voice type thing for gun rights, etc...).
